The SNP has approved a motion condeming the blood donation ban on gay men.
In September, ministers announced that the lifetime ban would be scrapped and gay and bisexual men would be permitted to donate blood if they abstain from sex for 12 months. Members of the Liberal Democrat party say that this change still amounts to 'a ban by any other name'.
What do you think about this?
As a gay man I would like to donate blood but I refuse to lie about who I am so until the law changes I will continue to follow the rules. How many more gay men out there think the same way and as a result blood donations will continue to be below levels required.
